How to prepare pastry

Step-by-step guide for preparing delicious pastry shells.


  1. Roll pastry out onto a lightly floured surface until about 3mm thick.
  2. Cut into squares and line individual greased tart cases with pastry.
  3. Trim edges and prick bases
  4. Place a piece of baking paper on the pastry, fill with beans or rice and bake blind in a preheated oven at 190°C for about 10 minutes.
  5. Remove paper and beans. Set aside.
